Description

The Environment, Sustainability and Energy Horizon Prizes recognise significant recent novel discoveries or advances made in the area of environment, sustainability and energy.

  • Up to two prizes are available 
  • These prizes are open to groups, teams and collaborations of any form or size, and in exceptional circumstances, individuals.
  • Any form of discovery or advance relating to the environment, sustainability and energy can be nominated. It can be fundamental or applied chemistry, or be multidisciplinary and involve other disciplines.
  • Winners will receive:
    • A professionally produced video showcasing the prize-winning work and its importance
    • A trophy recognising the whole team
    • All team members will receive individual recognition for their contribution
  • Winners are selected by the Environment, Sustainability and Energy Prize Committee

  • Only RSC members can nominate for these prizes
  • At least one member of the team must be an RSC member; the RSC member is expected to have made a significant contribution to the discovery/advance
  • Self-nomination is permitted and encouraged
  • Nominated teams must not include anyone named in one of these roles during the nomination/judging period:
    • Environment, Sustainability and Energy Prize Committee members
    • Subject Community Presidents
    • RSC Prize Committee members
    • Trustees of the Royal Society of Chemistry
    • Royal Society of Chemistry staff
